The picturesque village of Glenridding, only 5 miles from Fox Hollow on the shores of Ullswater has great places to eat or drink too and also has two mini supermarkets for your every need.

With Penrith 11 miles East and Keswick 12 miles West of Matterdale End there are a variety of excellent restaurants, public houses, supermarkets and shops to choose from. Both towns provide excellent rail and bus links too.

Ullswater, the second largest Lake is only 2 miles away, where a variety of sports and leisure activities are available. There are plenty of sailing clubs to choose from nearby too. Alternatively, if a relaxing afternoon is preferred, there are numerous quiet areas with breath taking views on the shores of the Lake along with plenty of parking available. The local area is also great for fishing, horse riding and golfing. Fishing on various Lakes, Keswick and Penrith golf courses nearby and Rookin House is excellent for horse riding, only 2 miles up the road.
